Natural History Museum, London

Wildlife Photographer of the Year

A multi-year collaboration with the Natural History Museum, supporting one of the world's most recognised photography exhibitions. A relationship that began with bespoke frame design has grown year on year into full production responsibility for both the main exhibition and its international touring program.

Project Overview

  • Location: London (South Kensington & Tring) and international touring

  • Client: Natural History Museum

  • Scope: Frame design, print production, and colour management

  • Scale: 100+ lightbox displays and approximately 1,000 touring prints annually

  • Duration: Ongoing, five years and growing

The Brief

  • Museum-standard presentation of award-winning photography with absolute colour accuracy

  • Precise reproduction from photographer-supplied files across a wide range of styles and sources

  • A durable, reusable framing solution capable of annual refresh without loss of quality

  • Consistency maintained across the main exhibition and all touring formats simultaneously

Our Approach

  • Designed and developed a bespoke lightbox framing system allowing works to be replaced annually while maintaining structural integrity

  • Following successful delivery, scope expanded to include full print production

  • Controlled workflow established covering colour editing, test proofing, and final output

  • All works individually reviewed under lightbox conditions, replicating the final display environment before release

Production

  • Fine art prints produced across multiple formats, including large-scale works up to 1.5m x 1.5m

  • Colour managed across hundreds of images presented simultaneously, across diverse photographic styles and sources

  • Custom lightbox frames manufactured for durability and repeat use, enabling efficient annual refresh

  • Consistency maintained between main exhibition and touring counterparts throughout

Delivery & Outcome

  • Production scheduled in line with annual exhibition deadlines and international touring requirements

  • All works delivered installation-ready across multiple locations

  • Consistent, colour-accurate presentation achieved across five years and counting

  • Systems in place to support continued annual updates and international rollout
